CUSTOM POSSIBILITIES
I particularly enjoy designing custom features that meet a particular musician’s needs; for example, I once built a modified 00 guitar with an exceptionally small neck for a player who has very small hands and an old thumb injury. And I would jump at a chance to build a left-handed guitar.

UNIQUE WOOD SELECTION
For many of my guitars, I use thermally modified Douglas Fir for soundboards and bracing, a material not readily available to other luthiers, rather than more traditional materials such as Cedar or Spruce. (The process is different from torrefying, as it takes place under pressure, sealing off the individual cells in the wood.) This results in an exceptionally stiff top that is dimensionally stable and highly resonant – effectively, the wood is pre-aged. One customer described it as “a brand-new guitar that sounds like it’s a hundred years old!”
